Still Sketching

Hey ya'll, sorry I haven't posted too much in a while. These are some sketches I have been doing the last couple months.

A couple of boats in the harbor with houses and such in the background. I had fun doing this one. Haven't really drawn/painted outside too much like this. It was quite enjoyable.

This is my friend's living room. This started as a casual sketch and became a little more involved after a bit.

This is my back pack. Pretty exciting huh. Sometimes I just draw what I got. :) I do like the personality this sketch has though. The pack seems to have this slackin' way about it.

Lastly, I have been experimenting with some watercolor pencils recently. I've never really used them before. They're cool. I only got two diff. colors, so hence the limited palette on this one. I'm diggin' the fabric folds and such. I'll hopefully be posting more of these later. Thanks for lookin'

I like the limited palette on that last one. It has a simple beauty in it. Also, I am impressed with how many shades you can get with just 2 colors. The backpack brings back to mind the office, and the walks together during breaks. I'm really glad I got to know you at ELIC. Where is the harbor? Did you actually go to a harbor to do this sketch?

Hey Shan and John, thank you for your comments, they are very much appreciated. Yeah, the watercolor one is one of my favorites, especially cause I just started using the pencils. I drew the boat picture at Newport harbor, it was a beautiful day and perfect for sketching. I need to do that more often!

I like the water color one quite a bit. The fabric folds are fantastic...even in the backpack. I love the way the criss crossing lines create the image of light and shadows to give each drawing depth...the folds of the backpack, and especially on the living room furniture...Exquisite!

Thank you so much for the comments Loren. I really like the folds in fabric too. I think just cause when you paint them, it either comes looking like fabric or nothing like fabric at all; so it's a challenge and when it works, it's quite encouraging!
