Tree of Life

I got inspired thinking about the light and shadows of a tree, and it's formation. Perhaps the tree of life shed it's leaves in the Fall... who knows. Very quick sketch, not necessarily to define a tree but more to see the contrast between the dark and light areas. It kinda has a figure or figures-like form to it.

In my recent studies of how children think about the feelings of even inanimate trees...I think your tree is so proud, standing so straight and beautiful. CLH

It's thought provoking. In a way I think I can see someone with their chest and arms reached toward the sky. Do you think though that eventhough it woulda shed its leaves there woulda been evidence of it on the ground? I don't know... Just a thought. I like it tho.

Carl: Thank you for the comment Carl.
Jason: Yeah, I thought it looked that way too. True, there may be some old dead leaves on the ground. Unless it was the dead of winter and they all blew away. :) Thanks for commenting my friend.

I've not pondered the look of the tree of life, but it is quite ingenious to represent it in such a light.
I thought that without the leaves, the stature of the tree was more a tree of the dead...yet for all their differences, life and death are not so distinguishable. We who once lived have died, and we must truly die to truly possess life again.
Thanks for the work Brandon!

I wanted to tell you this, and your new post reminded me. The same day you posted this, Doug cut our big tree way down to the trunk. It has blight, and he cut it back in hopes that all of what is left is healthy. Continuing with the blight would have eventually killed the tree. Cutting it back hopefully will give it life. I thought it was interested that Doug cut it back and then I saw your post the same day.
